Lancashire Schools Golf Association

The Association  was founded in 1981 to enable pupils to take part in  inter School Golf Competitions and to then be eligible to compete in the North of England Schools Championships and the English Schools Golf Association Competitions.

Lancashire is split into 4 Regions, North, East, South East, and South West which each have a qualifying Competition in the Spring. The winners from each Region, providing they are a Category One Golfer, are then eligible to represent Lancashire Schools in the North of England Schools Championships, which is a 36  hole Scratch event. The top ten finishers in this event would then go onto the English Schools finals.

In June a U/15 Championship takes place, for pupils in Year 10 and below. The winner from this event goes onto the English Schools U/16 finals. Handicap limits here are 28 for boys and 36 for girls.

In July the Lancashire Schools Championship is held for pupils on 18 handicap and under for boys, 36 and under for girls. This competition has individual and team trophies.
To be eligible to play in the competitions, pupils need to be in full time education and have a handicap of 28 and below for boys and 36 and below for girls.
The McPartlin Trophy is Stableford  National  Schools Competition which is for mid range handicap players, usually taking place in June or July.

The Knock Out Competition runs from October to April and is a match play team event with 3 players on each School team. The winners and runners up of this Competition represent Lancashire Schools at the English Schools Team Championships Finals.
